Thermoplastics for Parts

Thermoplastics have a wide range of applications. Items made from thermoplastic polymer materials are common in consumer and industrial use – especially for the fabrication of parts used by original equipment manufacturers and other manufacturers. Many of these thermoplastic materials can provide thermal and electrical insulation needed for an assembly of fabricated parts.

Thermoplastics polymers can be softened through heating, then hardened by cooling.

Dielectric Manufacturing stocks a wide variety of thermoplastics for fabrication into plastic parts, and for sale as an unfinished material. Among these materials are are ABS (which can be food-safe), acrylic, PEEK, polyethylene, polystyrene and PVC. (See chart below.) These and other thermoplastic materials are available with various durometer hardness levels; the finished part can be very hard and strong or soft and pliable like rubber.

Thermoplastic Manufacturing

In thermoplastic manufacturing, parts can be manufactured in high volumes without sacrificing precision.

We use CNC machines, not injection molding machines, to fabricate thermoplastic parts with great precision. Read about the difference at the Goodman Project website.

Thermoplastics can be re-formed once the shape is manufactured, as the material experiences physical change rather than chemical change. Thus, parts made with thermoplastics are recyclable. Thermoplastics polymers can be softened through heating, then hardened by cooling.
