Canvas (C, CE) Characteristics
C and CE grade phenolics are a material composed of a continuous woven cotton cloth impregnated with a phenolic resin binder. Phenolics are the oldest general purpose thermoset resin and are among the least expensive and easiest to process.
Canvas grades C and CE are a durable and economical choice for many applications. Both canvas grades offer good wear resistance, low moisture absorption and good mechanical strength. Grade C is suitable for structural and mechanical applications. Grade CE is an electrical grade canvas with good insulation properties. Characteristics include:
- Good mechanical and impact strength
- Withstands continuous operating temperature of 250° F
- Good insulation properties
- Economical
- Durable and stable
- Low moisture absorption
Applications for Canvas (C, CE)
- Structural supports
- Piston rings
- Gears, spacers, and bearing surfaces
